Overview of Minutes

Applies to CrossBrowserTesting SaaS, last modified on January 10, 2023

Each package allows a different amount of usage time per month. The usage time is calculated as the processing time on each selected configuration for each test, whether it is running your own automated scripts or a series of automated screenshots.

Live tests

Verify the operation and functionality of your site

MANUAL TESTING UNLIMITED. This does not count against your minutes (unless you have a free trial account). On the live tests, your minutes are tracked for the time you have a remote browser session up and running. If you walk away without ending your session, the system will automatically end your current session after it detects 5 minutes of inactivity – that is, no mouse or keyboard activity. You can adjust this time from 5 to 15 minutes under the advanced settings link.

AUTOMATED TESTING. Automated tests include Selenium Tests, Record & Replay Suite Runs, or automated Live Tests via our API for JavaScript Testing. These minutes are charged against your monthly automated minutes. The account pages detail the minutes used for both testing modes.

Screenshots

Verify the visual layout of your site across browsers

A screenshot is accounted in terms of seconds. You are only charged time when the screenshot is being taken, not for the startup and tear down time for an OS (we launch fresh configs for every test to ensure your company’s privacy). Typically, each screenshot takes from 0:30 to 1:30 minutes to complete, depending on the length of the page, the browser selected, and the OS selected. If a screenshot fails to process, there is no charge.

Record & replay

Click to Script. Create automated tests without having to manually create an automated script.

Recording a test, and single replays of a test, are charged against your manual minutes.

Replaying a suite of tests are charged against your automated minutes.

Automation scripting

Create your own custom automated tests

The time it takes to run an automated test is dependent on what you write your script to do and how long it takes to run the script. Get the most out of your automated test minutes by following Selenium best practices.

Running out of minutes?

When you run out of minutes, you will not be able to run any tests until your next billing period or until you upgrade your account to the next higher plan. You can contact us at [email protected] if you need help selecting the right plan for your testing needs.

At any time, you can upgrade to a larger package (you will receive a prorated credit for the previous package) or drop down to a smaller package (which would take effect at the next billing period). As your needs change, you can easily change your package.
